Summary:This appendix covers an introduction to Prior Art Rejections. These include 35 U.S.C. 102 and 35 U.S.C. 103. 102 deals with rejections where the prior art is the same as the claimed subject matter in the application. 103 deals with rejections where the claimed subject matter in the application is obvious based on the prior art.
This section also includes details on the America Invents Act (AIA) changes to 35 U.S.C. 102 and 35 U.S.C. 103. More details will be covered in each specific appendix. This appendix gives a good overview of the new statutes.
